NIKON D800 IN STOCK – NOT QUITE

So you are red hot to get the NIKON D800. You have it PRE ORDERED from ADORAMA, AMAZON.COM, BH, ABES of MAINE and who knows how many other places. Your getting frustrated that others are getting their D800’s and D800E’s.

Here’s the thing. Most people figure that the big online retailers will get served better from Nikon than the local camera shop. Well that may be true but the problem is simple. Your local camera shop gets a few cameras a week from Nikon and they usually have a short waiting list. The big retailers might get a few dozen or several times that of the local camera shop. The problem is the waiting list his 100’s of times longer also compounded by the fact that folks are ordering the D800 from all the online retailers and canceling their other pre orders once they have a D800 enroute. This inflates the waiting lists even more.

The amount of cameras the big stores is a drop in the bucket compared to their waiting lists.

You are better off going to your local camera shop and getting on a much shorter list. The one downside is they usually require at minimum a deposit or at worst paid in full. Thats actually a good thing though. It eliminates folks who just get on every list.

So if you ordered a D800 more than a few weeks after launch date just call your local dealer, get on a list and cancel your order with the big retailers mentioned above.

Thank me later
